STALWARTS OF ISS

Today, ISS remains the only formally-registered Sikh women society. It has developed from an informal body to an organised institution, and has made great contributions to the Sikh community. It has created a remarkable history for itself.

  • Mdm Dyal Kaur

    President, Vice President and Member (1963 to 1980)During Mdm Dyal’s presidency, ISS’ membership unanimously adopted the position at its Annual General Meeting in 1979 that it would always remain with CST and this has been the case till the present day.

  • Mdm Jaswant Kaur

    President, Vice President and Member (1980 to 1990)Mdm Jaswant was a pleasant, amicable and humble person who worked very closely with all the members of the Executive Council. This spirit of togetherness helped the team achieve significant success for ISS.

    President (1983 to 2003)Fondly regarded as “Bebe Ji”, she was inspiring, exemplary and humble, and she had a big heart. These are a few of the commendable qualities that she was well known for.

    Member, Vice President and President (1983 to 2007)An honest and straightforward person, she fought for her rights to comment on policies when necessary with the end outcome of doing her best for ISS.

    Secretary (1963 to 1990)Mdm Kartar was endearingly called “Mami” by her team and was well respected for her dedication and devotion, and in the execution of her responsibilities.
